Boulder Flatirons
Katherine Homes painted this beautiful version of the Flatirons, using watercolor on sustainably sourced wood.
To know Boulder, Colorado is to know the Flatirons. Rising up 1,400 feet from the ground, they hang over the city like a giant protector. And while they’re beautiful for us to stare up at (and occasionally climb), they’re also home to a wide variety of animal life, like coyote, fox, bears, deer, elk, and mountain lions, who live on the land surrounding these iconic rock slants. It’s estimated that the Flatirons were formed 296 million years ago, and we hope that they’re still rocking for another couple million years!
