Maroon Bells
Maroon Bells are two peaks in the Elk Mountains in Colorado - the Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak. Their layered and soft appearance are due to the rocks origin of a sediment shed off of an ancient mountain chain, the Ancestral Rockies, that occurred 300 million years ago!!
The mudstone remained buried until the modern Rockies raised, lifting and exposing the rock! Mountain ecosystems are important for biological diversity and are found on all continents, latitude zones, and support a wide variety of ecosystems.
They host nearly one – quarter of all terrestrial biodiversity and are home to many of the foods that come to our table.
Wildflowers of Fireweed, Aspen Fleabane, and the Colorado Blue Columbine can be paint the landscape in stunning and vibrant colors.
Generating awareness around threatened species and wildlands through affordable and functional art.
