American Basin Wildflowers
American Basin is a high alpine basin surrounded by vertical cliffs with elevations ranging from 11,300 to over 14,000 feet at the peak. It is well known for its spectacular summer display of alpine wildflowers such as Marsh Marigold, Parry’s Primrose, Colorado Columbine, Owl’s Clover, Larkspur, Monks Hood, Sneezeweed and Old Man.
Many animals live in this region including Mountain lion, Bighorn sheep, Bobcat, Black bear, and Mule deer. Wildlands are threatened by many factors, including climate change, wildfires, melting ice which disturbs snowpack and water-basins - changing fragile ecosystems - and human impact.Generating awareness around threatened species and wildlands through affordable and functional art.
